Release to Listen Award 2013

Last month, we awarded the Release to Listen Award to Vice President Joe Heitzinger (KCØOIO). Now, I realize the award was originally handed out to those who caused our repeater to time out before releasing the microphone switch.

OXB Counterpoise – Dayton or Bust!

I did a first this year; I attended the big, intergalactic hamfest in Dayton, OH.
I sorta let Keith (AGØH) and Mike (WAØKKE) twist my arm and talk me into going along with them. We shared travel and accommodation expenses. It’s a long, colorful story with several chapters about how we drove Mike’s motor home there and back. (Can you imagine ~6 miles per gallon? Or, was it 6 gallons per mile?!) I think we aver-aged ~1 laugh per mile (LPM). I’ll save the unclassified summary for another time.
