May Greetings from the President

I’m very pleased to announce this month, the launch of the club’s new website.  After many months of perusing other club sites and discussing options with club members, my daughter Trisha completed the site this past week and we went live Sunday morning, the 27th.

Beyond the new look, there’s now a modern back end which will allow us to more easily upload newsletters, photos, announcements, maintain the calendar and much more.  A more intuitive back end makes it easier to provide club members with timely information, as well as provide an easier means for special event QSOs to be entered and processed.  I suspect there are still a few “opportunities” to make on the site as it gets more use.  Thanks to everyone for your patience in completing this monumental task.   I also want to take the opportunity to thank Trisha for all her hard work and the many hours of work she put into this effort on our behalf.

Here’s a photo of Trish (circa mid 80’s) , working the bug – either DX or contesting…

I would like to remind everyone of the 2014 Field Day event, June 28 and 29.  Check the web site for more information as time draws near.  As with all SARA events, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer.  There’s still room to help with a few odds and ends for this summer’s activities.  Please contact Dave or myself if you can help out.  There will be a planning meeting at the May 1st or 8th  eyeball.  Hope to see you there.

This month’s meeting is our annual show-n-tell program.  I’m looking forward to bringing my portable QRP setup, KX3, Anker battery, Solar Charger and Buddipole.  I’ve been working DX on the back deck with this setup and close to being ready for this summer’s Isle Royal expedition.

As always, I’m looking forward to seeing you at the general meeting on the 10th.

Don’t forget the pre-meeting-breakfast at Joseph’s Restaurant (7:30am) with other club members.

73,
Peter NØGRM
